The dial draws inspiration from the pavement of Piazza del Campidoglio, one of Michelangelo Buonarroti’s most celebrated urban masterpieces. Commissioned by Pope Paul III in the 16th century, the project transformed the heart of Roman power into an emblem of the Renaissance.
